God Bless America is a multi-media assemblage. It brings together pieces that were created independently over a span of 40 years. 

 

The poem, written in response to the angst of 9/11, was inspired by the writings of St. Paul. It was the impetus for the creation of the larger work. The poetry takes a grim look at conditions in America, a sentiment echoed by the inverted flag, the ominous look of the oracle and the constant stream of video commentary akin to our 24-hour news cycle. An optimistic blue sky gives breath and hope to the dense, dark metropolis that symbolizes America.
